Angie Harmon has signed a new multi picture development deal with “Lifetime”, the TV network. I tell you all about it, next!
All right so the details on Angie Harmon signing this new multi picture development deal with “Lifetime”. Now - if Angie Harmon, the name sounds familiar, she is best known for her roles as ADA Abbie Carmichael from the original “Law & Order”, I think she was there from 1998 through 2001, and as Detective Jane Rizzoli from “Rizzoli and Isles”. She, like a lot of actresses has been in a bunch of made for TV projects, TV movies, and is currently she is narrating “Lifetime's” new docu series, “Cellmate Secrets”, which is basically a bunch of ripped from the headlines stories just put into a docu-style format. I haven't checked it out yet, I want to. It's probably still airing on “Lifetime”, I hope it is. I don't know whether it's available up in Canada, but I want to try and find it because I do want to check it out. I do like sort of the true crime docu style type stuff, so that's pretty cool to know that she is narrating “Cellmate Secrets”, like I said it's a bunch of ripped from the headlines true case stories, told in a docu-style format. As part of this new deal, according to the article that I'm getting this from, from Deadline.com, Harmon will get the chance to executive produce, star, and will make her directorial debut as part of this development deal. That is basically the 3 tiers to this deal, at least according to this article from Deadline.com. She will get to executive produce, star, and make her directorial debut. Now, of course, also in this article states that there are 2, she, I guess, as part of this new package, she is going to direct 2 films yet to be determined by “Lifetime”, the network itself, and that's pretty cool. I know that like a lot of actresses who have had starring roles from say, 20-30 years ago, if not more, they go the directing route. An example, I could think of would be, Ron Howard, who was of course, Richie Cunningham on “Happy Days”, has carved out quite a career for himself as a director and producer. Then you have, Melissa Joan Hart who's known for her roles as or on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “Clarissa Explains All” she is doing a lot of directing and executive producing, I think she executive produced her sitcom with Joey Lawrence, “Melissa and Joey”, under her banner of “Heartbreak Films”. Candace Cameron Bure has done that as well, and there are just a lot of actresses who are still getting work on these networks that cater to made for TV films, like “Hallmark”, like “Lifetime”, they're going behind the camera, they're getting a lot more experience when it comes to say executive producing and directing, which is cool, they’re writing scripts, they’re pitching ideas, and that's part of this deal with Angie Harmon, and that's really, really, cool! To see them get to do more things, I mean, myself I've been in TV production, I've been in radio, video, and many different types of media, so I understand what it's like to put together a script, a production, what it takes to break it down, what it takes to execute this thing, so to see her get that chance, not that I know her personally, but it actually is really cool to see a star who was in front of the camera, mainly go okay you know what, I'm gonna sign this deal and I'm gonna get a chance to make my directorial debut, I'm gonna get a chance to say executive produce and star in my own projects, that's cool that the network is giving you this chance to Harmon and to any of the actors that they work with. I mean, just to get the opportunity to produce your own stuff and create your own stuff that’s cool because I do it here for you guys, whether it's on my podcast or here on the “Leigh Dickey TV” YouTube channel, from getting to create your own vision, so I understand what it's like to want to be in control, and the fact that I'm reading this, that Harmon gets the chance to star, produce, and make her directorial debut with this pact is really cool to me, having been a fan of hers since her run on “Law & Order”, which I think only lasted like 3 or 4 years. Still, it was cool, she was one of my favorites, and I've always been a fan of hers, what can I say? It's really cool that she gets the chance to direct, executive produce, and star in projects for the network in this exclusive deal. Going further on down, this article states that there is one project currently in development with Harman attached to star, which has the working title of “Barstow”, it is from executive producer and writer, Thompson Evans, where Harman will star as a single mom and diner owner who has a very dark past, which comes back to haunt her. Now, when I read that synopsis all I can think of, not I'm trying to compare it to anything, but the only thing I can think of that sounds anything remotely close to it, is that movie “Peppermint” that starred Jennifer Garner, from a few years ago, and you know, I'm not trying to throw shade it's just sounds like “Peppermint”, but as a made for TV movie, on a smaller budget, I'm assuming it's a smaller budget because it’s a made for TV movie that’s going to air on “Lifetime”. I'm not trying to throw shade, not trying to throw anyone under the bus, it sounds cool, it sounds like a typical “Lifetime” or any other made for TV movie. It's a simple plot, it's a lot of, let's build the suspense, let's build the drama and, then have it end in about 90 minutes, simple plot, simple premise. Angie Harmon is set to star, this thing's got the working title of “Barstow”, again, not trying to compare it to anything, but it sounded a lot like “Peppermint”, which starred Jennifer Garner a few years ago, just on a smaller scale, on a smaller screen. Still, to see Harman, or to hear the Harmon has signed this multi picture development deal with “Lifetime” is cool, and she's currently narrating “Cellmate Secrets” on “Lifetime”. I haven't checked out that docu-series at all, I want to, so I will probably go looking for the episodes because I don't know whether or not they're available up here in Canada, or if I even have access to the series at all because I don't regularly have access to “Lifetime”, but I will go fishing and looking for the “Cellmate Secrets” episodes, but that is the latest on it Angie Harmon signing a multi picture development deal with “Lifetime”, thanks again for watching, I've been Leigh Dickey, please, comment, like, share, subscribe, all that good stuff!
