Having cerebral palsy has made me self conscious, I'll give you one example, up until about 4 years ago, I would not wear shorts in the summer unless I was at home, unless I was on my porch, in my backyard, in my house with the doors and windows shut.
I would not wear shorts in public because I'm well aware people have stared at me, said things, snickered behind my back, to my face, and just made their own assumptions about me, and what they see visually, then forming their own opinions, with their own bias, whether they know what cerebral is or not. People have and will assume, "he has a problem, you don't want to end up like him". They're saying that to their children as I walk by or behind my back, sometimes even to my face, and just making assumptions, and they're pointing at my legs. I have a noticeable limp, I'm well aware of that, okay. I can't help that, that's just part of me having cerebral palsy, I have a limp, I can't help the fact that I have a limp and it's noticeable. I don't like having cerebral palsy, I don't like having the limp, and I just did not want to wear shorts because I walk with a limp, and obviously you're looking at my legs, if they're exposed because I'm wearing shorts. So having people stare, it makes me uncomfortable, having people point, snicker, stare, say things, whether behind my back or to my face, makes me uncomfortable, so up until about 4 years ago, I wouldn't wear shorts out in public and I didn't really accept the fact that I needed to wear shorts out in public becuse summer's can be really hot. and I just didn't want people to stare, snicker, point, talk about me in the ways that they have in regards to my cerebral palsy. You know, the older I get, the more I really just don't care what people think because I'm not gonna be uncomfortable anymore because I have cerebral palsy and have to live with it. I'm not gonna make myself purposely uncomfortable for the comfort level of others, and that's basically the point to this story. Do you have any questions or want to know anything about cerebral palsy? Let me know. Thank you for your time. A reboot of the incredibly popular 80's and early 90's sitcom, "Perfect Strangers" is in the works at HBO Max. The original series, which aired from 1986 to 1993, and was an anchor on ABC's "TGIF" lineup, starred Mark Linn Baker and Bronson Pinchot as "Larry Appleton" and "Balki Bartokomous', respectively as distant cousins living and working together in Chicago.
Of course, with the original series run lasting eight seasons and 150 episodes, Baker and Pinchot's beloved characters navigate life, work, relationships, and everything in between. Personally, I think the "Balki and Larry" character relationship is one of the best in television history. Pinchot and Baker had such amazing chemistry together. They were one of the best on screen duos ever. This reboot, which according to an article from "The Hollywood Reporter", will star Robin Thede and London Hughes as "Poppy" and "Deja', half sisters who are unknown to each other, until they both inherit an apartment that is above a trap yoga studio in New York. From there, they both have to live together and co-exist. I love the original "Perfect Strangers" series with Pinchot and Baker. It was absolutely hilarious, both Baker and Pinchot played really well off of one another, and just a great show to watch. The theme song is one of my favourite TV themes ever. It's got a total 80's vibe, makes you feel good, makes you feel happy. When it comes to this reboot that will star both Thede and Hughes, I had no idea it was even in the works, it was a total surprise. I will say, this reboot is unexpected, I don't think it is even needed, nothing against Hughes or Thede, but over say, the last decade or so, there have been so many reboots and revival series'. I think the whole TV and movie reboot or revival direction that Hollywood is in, is just lazy and needs to end. Hollywood, you can come up and present new ideas, it's okay. The viewing public likes new, fresh ideas, we're not going to hate you if you give us something new. This reboot is clearly just a Hollywood cash grab. I don't want to shed a negative light on it, but it's not needed. I haven't seen any of Thede or Hughes' work, but they're clearly two talented individuals who will come together for this project. Before I pass too much judgement, I will say, I will and do want to at least watch the pilot, and then I will render my opinion, whenever it is released and I get a chance to watch it. The "Perfect Strangers" reboot - a complete surprise, in my opinion, completely not needed, but I will, like I do with everything, give it a chance. What are your thoughts on the "Perfect Strangers" reboot? Let me know. Thank you for your time. I tell you all about it, next!
All right so the details on Angie Harmon signing this new multi picture development deal with “Lifetime”. Now - if Angie Harmon, the name sounds familiar, she is best known for her roles as ADA Abbie Carmichael from the original “Law & Order”, I think she was there from 1998 through 2001, and as Detective Jane Rizzoli from “Rizzoli and Isles”. She, like a lot of actresses has been in a bunch of made for TV projects, TV movies, and is currently she is narrating “Lifetime's” new docu series, “Cellmate Secrets”, which is basically a bunch of ripped from the headlines stories just put into a docu-style format. I haven't checked it out yet, I want to. It's probably still airing on “Lifetime”, I hope it is. I don't know whether it's available up in Canada, but I want to try and find it because I do want to check it out. I do like sort of the true crime docu style type stuff, so that's pretty cool to know that she is narrating “Cellmate Secrets”, like I said it's a bunch of ripped from the headlines true case stories, told in a docu-style format. As part of this new deal, according to the article that I'm getting this from, from Deadline.com, Harmon will get the chance to executive produce, star, and will make her directorial debut as part of this development deal. That is basically the 3 tiers to this deal, at least according to this article from Deadline.com. She will get to executive produce, star, and make her directorial debut. Now, of course, also in this article states that there are 2, she, I guess, as part of this new package, she is going to direct 2 films yet to be determined by “Lifetime”, the network itself, and that's pretty cool. I know that like a lot of actresses who have had starring roles from say, 20-30 years ago, if not more, they go the directing route. An example, I could think of would be, Ron Howard, who was of course, Richie Cunningham on “Happy Days”, has carved out quite a career for himself as a director and producer. Then you have, Melissa Joan Hart who's known for her roles as or on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “Clarissa Explains All” she is doing a lot of directing and executive producing, I think she executive produced her sitcom with Joey Lawrence, “Melissa and Joey”, under her banner of “Heartbreak Films”. Candace Cameron Bure has done that as well, and there are just a lot of actresses who are still getting work on these networks that cater to made for TV films, like “Hallmark”, like “Lifetime”, they're going behind the camera, they're getting a lot more experience when it comes to say executive producing and directing, which is cool, they’re writing scripts, they’re pitching ideas, and that's part of this deal with Angie Harmon, and that's really, really, cool! To see them get to do more things, I mean, myself I've been in TV production, I've been in radio, video, and many different types of media, so I understand what it's like to put together a script, a production, what it takes to break it down, what it takes to execute this thing, so to see her get that chance, not that I know her personally, but it actually is really cool to see a star who was in front of the camera, mainly go okay you know what, I'm gonna sign this deal and I'm gonna get a chance to make my directorial debut, I'm gonna get a chance to say executive produce and star in my own projects, that's cool that the network is giving you this chance to Harmon and to any of the actors that they work with. I mean, just to get the opportunity to produce your own stuff and create your own stuff that’s cool because I do it here for you guys, whether it's on my podcast or here on the “Leigh Dickey TV” YouTube channel, from getting to create your own vision, so I understand what it's like to want to be in control, and the fact that I'm reading this, that Harmon gets the chance to star, produce, and make her directorial debut with this pact is really cool to me, having been a fan of hers since her run on “Law & Order”, which I think only lasted like 3 or 4 years. Still, it was cool, she was one of my favorites, and I've always been a fan of hers, what can I say? It's really cool that she gets the chance to direct, executive produce, and star in projects for the network in this exclusive deal. Going further on down, this article states that there is one project currently in development with Harman attached to star, which has the working title of “Barstow”, it is from executive producer and writer, Thompson Evans, where Harman will star as a single mom and diner owner who has a very dark past, which comes back to haunt her. Now, when I read that synopsis all I can think of, not I'm trying to compare it to anything, but the only thing I can think of that sounds anything remotely close to it, is that movie “Peppermint” that starred Jennifer Garner, from a few years ago, and you know, I'm not trying to throw shade it's just sounds like “Peppermint”, but as a made for TV movie, on a smaller budget, I'm assuming it's a smaller budget because it’s a made for TV movie that’s going to air on “Lifetime”. I'm not trying to throw shade, not trying to throw anyone under the bus, it sounds cool, it sounds like a typical “Lifetime” or any other made for TV movie. It's a simple plot, it's a lot of, let's build the suspense, let's build the drama and, then have it end in about 90 minutes, simple plot, simple premise. Angie Harmon is set to star, this thing's got the working title of “Barstow”, again, not trying to compare it to anything, but it sounded a lot like “Peppermint”, which starred Jennifer Garner a few years ago, just on a smaller scale, on a smaller screen. Still, to see Harman, or to hear the Harmon has signed this multi picture development deal with “Lifetime” is cool, and she's currently narrating “Cellmate Secrets” on “Lifetime”. I haven't checked out that docu-series at all, I want to, so I will probably go looking for the episodes because I don't know whether or not they're available up here in Canada, or if I even have access to the series at all because I don't regularly have access to “Lifetime”, but I will go fishing and looking for the “Cellmate Secrets” episodes, but that is the latest on it Angie Harmon signing a multi picture development deal with “Lifetime”, thanks again for watching, I've been Leigh Dickey, please, comment, like, share, subscribe, all that good stuff! So a revival of the 90’s Disney sitcom, “Smart Guy” is in early development. Now, according to this article from ScreenRant.com, Tahj Mowry sort of heavily implied in an interview that he would be returning to the title role of “T.J. Henderson”. Now, if Tahj Mowry sounds familiar to some of you younger folks, he was most recently, at least to my knowledge - he had a role on the Freeform sitcom or ABC Spark, if you’re up in Canada, formally ABC Family in the U. S., he had a role on the sitcom, “Baby Daddy” until it wrapped its run. If his last name sounds familiar, it's because his twin sisters, Tia and Tamera also had a sitcom of their own that ran in the 90’s from 1994 to 1999, “Sister, Sister”. I remember “Smart Guy” because we did get it up here in Canada, I think it aired on the Family Channel, and it probably reran on other networks up here as well, but. to hear that a revival or reboot with Tahj Mowry is in the early stages of development, isn't doesn’t surprise me because reboots are all the rage these days, but I think it's one of those shows that doesn't need a reboot. I mean, like I said, I know that reboots and revivals series’ are all the rage these days, but there are certain things from my childhood that I want to stay in my childhood, There's certain things that I want to remember from my childhood and not have to deal with the fact that they're being reimagined, rehashed, or rebooted, nowadays. I enjoyed the show. The premise of the original show was a young Tahj Mowry in the “T.J. Henderson” role basically he was a genius, an elementary school whiz kid, who just skipped grades and went straight to high school. so I mean for the younger generation, the generation that is coming up now, if you want to think of “Young Sheldon”, but in the 1990’s, that's the first thing I thought of, “Smart Guy” was like the original “Young Sheldon”. That's pretty much what it was, a young elementary school kid who skipped grades, was a super genius, went straight to high school, and had to navigate life from there, that's pretty much what “Young Sheldon” is these days, which in itself is a spinoff of “Big Bang Theory”. If you want to compare it to something or get an idea of what “Smart Guy” is for those of you that are watching this who don't know what “Smart Guy” is then that's the one thing I can equate it to. It's basically Tahj Mowry’s “T.J. Henderson” as a 10 or 12 year old kid navigating high school life because his character is a super genius and then that's pretty much the premise of the show. It's a family sitcom, it aired on Disney Channel originally, and again, I think we did get it up here in a couple different ways. Again, if I haven't stated this already, the article sort of states that Tahj Mowry heavily implied in an interview… there's more information about the interview that he did in this article from ScreenRant.com, about him returning to the “T.J. Henderson” role from “Smart Guy” and him having to navigate life now as an adult, and like I said, I don't think the series needs to happen. It ran for 3 seasons are between 1997 and 1999 I was between the ages of 8 and 10, it was great, I liked the show as a kid, but I don't need to see it now as an adult who's in their 30’s. I don't need to see a reimagining, they’ve done enough with “Fuller House” and “Punky Brewster”, and a whole host load of others, “Saved by the Bell”, it doesn't need to happen, it doesn't need to exist. I guess, I don’t know, call me an old crank, if you want, but maybe I'm 1 of those guys that's you know an adult now, and in his 30’s, you don't need to keep rehashing the same old shows, you can come up with a new idea! It's okay - nobody's going to frown on you for it. That's just my opinion on the matter, but you know, Tahj Mowry said, stated, or at least, implied in this interview that he would heavily return to the “T.J. Henderson” role from “Smart Guy”, and he hopes to get the original cast returning - Jason Weaver, Omar Gooding, and a slew of others. It wouldn't surprise me if his twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry who again, like I said, had their roles on “Sister, Sister” that ran from 1994 to 1999. It wouldn't surprise me if they came in to make at least guest appearances, but what do you know? “Smart Guy”, the 90’s Disney sitcom, it has a revival series, a reboot series in early development. Chances are, I would assume it would end up on Disney Plus because the world is all the rage all the streaming services now, but that's just my guess. There you go, all about the “Smart Guy” series revival being in early development. Let me know what you think, post it in the comments below. Thank you for your time. I tell you all about his next TV gig, next.
So Lucas Till's next TV gig is this drama pilot set at FX, “The Spook Who Sat by The Door”, in which he will play the role of CIA agent, Graham Renfroe. Now the pilot will star Y'lan Noel of “Insecure” as CIA operative “Dan Freeman”, the first black operative in CIA history, who goes through all these specialized training from high level combat to espionage, only to be placed in the retrographics department, now that's with the articles calling it from TVLine.com, or the photocopying department, just so people can see that the CIA has one black employee. Now the pilot and potential series will also star Nafessa Williams as “Etta Henry”, a high class working girl. Now Nafessa Williams just recently wrapped a run on the CW's “Black Lightning” series, which wrapped after 4 seasons recently. It's just cool, you know that Lucas Till and Nafessa Williams have already found their next gigs, their next sort of pilots. I'm assuming this is for next season. I know it's on FX, which I think is much larger I suppose in the U. S. than it is up here in Canada, but it's cool to see them both and land their next TV gig. You’ve got Nafessa Williams, Lucas Till… I mean, Lucas Till, as I said just recently wrapped a run on CBS's “MacGyver” reboot, which recently wrapped in April after 5 seasons on CBS. My opinion, I think it could have gotten a sixth season. Now unfortunately, I didn't see much, if anything at all of the CW's “Black Lightning” series just because the CW and myself it's not made for me, like I'm not the demo, I'm not who they're targeting. It’s unfortunate, I'm sure the series did well. Obviously it did because it got 4 seasons on the network. There you go, you got Nafessa Williams and Lucas Till in this drama pilot, “The Spook Who Sat by The Door”, based on a novel set in the 1960’s by Sam Greenlee. Of course, I will link the article that all this information comes from, from TVLine.com in the description and show notes below. What do you guys think of Lucas Till and Nafessa Williams's next TV gig? Right here, “The Spook Who Sat by The Door”, this drama pilot from FX, and I should note that Lee Daniels will serve as executive producer while Leigh Dana Jackson will serve as showrunner and writer for the project. Still, very cool to see Nafessa Williams and Lucas Till land their next TV gig. Let me know what you think, post it in the comments below, smash that like button. Listen to the Audio Here Subscribe on YouTube Follow on Tik Tok Follow on Instagram Follow on Twitter Like on Facebook I was watching "The Price is Right" recently, the June 8th, 2021 episode, to be exact. and saw one of the most over the top contestants I have ever seen in all my time watching the show with both Bob Barker and Drew Carey hosting.
This contestant was called to "Come on down!" and immediately there was dancing, bouncing, and screaming their way to contestant's row. I figured they were just really happy and excited to be there, as most, if not everyone who is called to contestant's row would be. If the screaming would have ended there, I wouldn't have made a video, podcast episode, and a blog about it! When this contestant was called on to bid first, more screaming and shrieking ensued. She won a wine fridge right away to move on and place a pricing game, which was "Pick-a-Pair". Before the pricing game started, more screaming, shrieking, and I guess excitement from the contestant was heard, and it became very annoying. They won a game room while playing "Pick-a-Pair". Once they won, more screams, more shrieks! I started flipping channels at this point, just to give my ears a break from the audible sounds this contestant was making, but flipped back to watch the "Showcase Showdown", and when this person approached the wheel, more screaming, more ear piercing shrieks, they won the "Showcase Showdown", and began bouncing up and down excitedly in place, while adding screams and shrieks. The second half of the show was far less of an audible nightmare as an audience member, watching from home. Fast forward to the "Final Showcase", as both sets of prizes are being presented, this contestant is screaming and shrieking in excitement, but after flipping back and forth for an hour, I was done with it, completely over it. They won their showcase, which had a home office, a camping tent, wood burning stove, and a car. Once this contestant was announced as the winner, they ran down screaming, shrieking to check out their prizes, bouncing and jumping everywhere. As this point, the credits started to roll, the audio was brought down, which is what normally happens at the end of an episode of "The Price is Right", but the camera were still rolling and cutting to shots of everyone on stage, until the show faded to black to end it for the day. Throughout the episode, the models, Drew, and anyone on stage when this contestant was on, just look a bit off put and uncomfortable with their level of excitement, that's how it looked to me, and as I said, watching this episode live from home, the screaming and shrieking, made it way too over the top for me and something that ended up being really annoying. The other contestants that day were excited, but were able to control their level of excitement and how loud they were. I am not saying by any means, to not get excited, but screaming and shrieking during an entire show, even when you're not on, is a little much. As someone who has worked in radio, television, entertainment, and many other forms of media, I've dealt with that level of excitement, if you want to call it that several times, I've never been a fan of it, just because it makes people jobs harder, and it distracts from the others on the show, plus removes the enjoyment from the show for the crew, both on camera and behind the scenes, the audience, if they were there live, and the people at home. I guess I'm saying, it's not all about you, or this one contestant, you're not the centre of the universe, and there are other people that should be considered, even if you're as excited as you are. Never spoil someone else's enjoyment of something or take away from their experience, while you have the same opportunity to experience at your own level, and the winning contestant from this episode just sucked the fun, excitement, and enjoyment out of the show for me that day, made it all about themselves, when it is about everyone involved, the other contestants, the models, the production crew, Drew, George, and the audience. These are just my thoughts, I'm not trying to speak ill of this person, but I want to be honest also. Did you watch the June 8th episode of "The Price is Right?" What are your thoughts? Thank you for your time. Best Regards, Leigh Dickey Subscribe to Leigh Dickey TV on YouTube
Hello Everyone,
A little known fact that I haven't shared too much with the public, is that I have Cerebral Palsy and have had it my entire life. I have decided to share my experiences with it in the hopes that you all will learn something about Cerebral Palsy and the people who have it. Truthfully, I have not shared much about me having Cerebral Palsy because I am not comfortable with having it, myself and having to live with it to this point and, what will end up being the rest of my life. I also am hoping that share my experiences with Cerebral Palsy will allow me to personally work things out with myself, in terms of being more accepting of the fact that I have Cerebral Palsy, and perhaps get some things off my chest. I hope you all will join me on this journey as I share my life experiences with having Cerebral Palsy with you all. Thank you for your time. I thought it would be fun to just review the trailer. "The Blues Brothers" is a feature length film based on a "Saturday Night Live" act of the same name.
Jake and Elwood must secure $5,000 in order to keep the orphanage where they grew up in Chicago open and operating. The movie is two and a half hours of an awesome soundtrack, great stunts, car chases, and just good fun. The trailer shows all of that and gives the movie away, unfortunately. The trailer, which is obviously supposed to promote the film is more than 4 minutes in length and in my opinion, shows too much. "The Blues Brothers" itself is a great film, with a great soundtrack and cast, but to condense the whole movie into just over 4 minutes, I think is a shame. Some of the great scenes shown in the trailer include appearances by - Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Henry Gibson, Carrie Fisher, John Candy, and many more. The voice over for the trailer is great, and I love the cover of the "Peter Gunn" theme performed by "The Blues Brothers", which plays throughout the trailer. I did review the whole film, on an episode of the "Yeah, About That" Podcast. which you can listen to here. (The review starts at about 00:44:12) Are you a fan of "The Blues Brothers?"
